Andrew Martin

Andrew Martin qualified from Aston University in 1984 with an honours degree in Ophthalmic Optics. His professional qualification was obtained the following year and he became a member of the College of Optometrists. In 1995 he stared working at the practice in Boldmere.

Andrew is also a sessional lecturer helping in the undergraduate teaching program in the optometry department of Aston University. He is also an examiner for the College of Optometrist, for their professional qualifying examinations.

Andrew has a number of special interest including children’s vision, which resulted in his practice being nominated for Children's Eyecare Practice of the Year in 1998, and Eyecare for the Elderly in1999. During 2004-2006 Andrew collaborated with Good Hope Hospital and North Birmingham PCT in a referral refinement project. As a result of this he was nominated for Technology Practice of the Year in 2006.

Andrew also serves on the Birmingham Local Optical Committee, and is accredited to undertake Digital Diabetic Retinopathy Eye Screening for patients registered with a GP in the Birmingham & Black Country Health Authority area.
